Q: I forgot my password, what can I do?

Go to www.cutetravelmate.com and click on the 'Forgot your password' link and fill out your e-mail address that you used for registering at CuteTravelMate. Your password and username will be send to the e-mail addressed you specified.

Q: Can I change my username or password?

Once you are logged on to CuteTravelMate, you can change your password by clicking on the 'Account settings' icon. It is not possible to change your username, however, you can always create another account with another username.


Q: Can I create more than one account?

You are allowed to create as many accounts as you wish, if you plan 5 trips, you may create 5 profiles. There is no extra charge for creating a new account.


 

Q: How do I Create/update/delete a Profile?

Log on to CuteTravelMate with your username and password (if you don't have an account yet, register, it's free!).

If you are a new user:
You will be guided to the 'Edit profile' screen automatically.
Once you created your profile, it will be reviewed and published within 48 hours. You will receive an email to confirm this. You can modify your profile as often as you want, there are no restrictions. An up to date profile is more atrractive for other users and will get more responses.

If you are an existing user:
When you log on to CuteTravelMate, you will be guided to 'My Home'. On the left side of the 'My Home' screen, you will find a link 'Modify My Profile', which will allow you to modify your settings at any time and as many times as you wish. Changes made to the Headline and Narrative will set your profile status to 'Under Review'. Within 48 hours it will be reviewed and published. Changes made to any other setting will go in effect right away. Once you see 'Published', your profile has been reviewed, approved and published and all other user can view it.


To delete your profile, click on the 'My Account' Icon in MyHome and then click on the 'Delete my Account' link and answer 'Yes' when prompted if you are sure. Your profile will be deleted within 48 hours, this process is irreversable.


Q: Why can't I see my profile when I search?

There can be two reasons why your profile isn't visible when you search for it:

1. You have set the Profile Status to 'Hide' in 'My Home'. Click on 'Hide/Unhide Profile' until you see 'Visible'.

2. Your profile is still under review: this happens after each change that you make to the Headline or Narrative section in your profile.. In this case you will see 'Under Review' in the status screen until your profile has been reviewed and published by our Review Team. You will receive an automated email once your profile has been reviewed or you can check the status for Profile in 'My home'.


Q: What are the profile guidelines?

Headline:
Create a 'catchy' and useful headline to attract your travelmate or to state your profile purpose. An original headline will increase your chances to receive a response.

For your own privacy, we advise not use a first or last name in the headline.

Narrative:
Describe yourself, the purpose of your trip/profile and your ideal travelmate in more detail. The more information you give about yourself and your travel plans, the more chance you have to receive a response from the perfect travelmate.
Profiles with a well written narrative receive more responses.

If you don't know what to put in your headline/narrative, send an email to asklisa@cutetravelmate.com to request assistance. Our cultural expert Lisa can offer you advice on how to improve your profile!

Note:
We are not an adult site and do not accept the use of adult related content in any way. Profiles that do contain adult related content, will be rejected.

Avoid the use of insulting and abusive language! Do not post any contact information in your profile such as email address and telephone number. Profiles that contain any contact information will be rejected.
Empty headlines and narratives will also be rejected.

Profiles containing commercial advertisement will be rejected.
We reserve the right to reject/modify profiles that do not comply with our profile guidelines.

Q: A few suggestions on how to use this service

1. You go on a (business) trip to a foreign country, you post an add to locate a local guide who speaks your language.

2. You stay overnight in a city and you are looking for someone to have dinner with.

3. You want to travel to some new places with a great travelmate to share your fun, adventure and perhaps even expenses!

4. You are looking forward to meet new people and offer your services to show them New York or Boston or any other city or area you live in.

5. You just want to travel together with someone who shares the same interests as you do.

6. You decided to discover the world and want to find someone who speaks your language.

7. Find new friends in different countries while traveling!

8. Post an add for a local weekend trip.

9. You are looking for romance in Paris, London, Vienna or Venice :-)


Q: How do I contact another travelmate?

You have to be a registered user in order to contact another travelmate or post your profile. Do it now, it is free!
When you find your perfect travelmate and want to contact him/her, you just press on the little envelope and you will be able to send an anonymous e-mail which will contain your username.


Q: How do I look for a travelmate?

Use Quick Search to get a listing of people who travel in the same time frame as you do or specify exactly what you are looking for in a travelmate, using the detailed search options.

If you already know the username, use the Username Search or add travel friends to your favorites list by clicking on the 'Add to Friend List' on your friends profile.

Another powerful search is the 'Keyword Search'. Enter one (1) keyword and the database will bring up all profiles that used the keyword your entered.



Q: How do I publish a photo in my profile?

1. Log on to CuteTravelMate, go to 'My Home' and click on the Photo Upload icon in the Photo Upload Center on the top-right hand side of the page.

2. Make sure you choose a photo that has the .jpg or .gif format AND is smaller than 500KB.

3. Follow the instructions on the screen.

Please allow up to 72 hours for publishing of your photo.
We reserve the right to crop or reject any photo at our discretion. Photos will not appear on the site until they are approved by Customer Care.

Photo Content:
Please adhere to the following guidelines:
Nude, obscene, sexual or otherwise offensive photos will not be posted.
Cartoon characters and photos of celebrities are copyrighted and will not be posted. You must be in the main photo and clearly visible. Photos 2..4 can be scenic/landscape/holiday photos.

Photo Tips
Choose a recent photo that reflects your current appearance.
Use a photo of yourself alone for your main image.


Q: Why should I publish a photo with my profile?

CuteTravelMate.com is committed to helping members find good travelmates, and looking at photos is an important part of most people's selection process. A nice picture of yourself adds personality and presence to your profile. What's more, profiles with photos get browsed eight times more often than those without photos.


Q: How do I change/delete my photo?

1. Log on to CuteTravelMate, go to 'My Home' and click on the Photo Upload icon in the Photo Upload Center on the top-right hand side of the page.

2. Select the photo(s) you wish to erase and press the delete button underneath.

 


Q: How do I contact other members?

If you want to contact other members, click on the little envelope with the text 'contact me' next to it. We use an anonymous mailing system and you can email as often as you want. We provide all services at NO charge :)

You can find this envelope in the search results and in the detailed information of each user when you click on his/her username/photo.

You can also click on the little mailbox in 'My Home' (this is the page that comes up after you log in). The Inbox will come up by default (green header). The inbox shows all the emails that were sent to you by other members. Unread emails will appear in bold print, after reading it, they will appear with a regular print.

The Outbox (yellow header) contains all emails YOU sent out. In the outbox you will see a 'read status'. If this shows 'not read', your email has not been read, if the status shows 'read', this means your email has been openend and read!

Compose E-mail (orange header) is to create an email. If you know the username of your travel friend you can type it in directly. To get familiar with the email tool, send an email to yourself and see if you receive the notification email in the email address that you used when you registered with Cutetravelmate.

How do I know when I received E-mail in my Cutetravelmate account?
If someone sends you an email, you will receive a little notification email in your real (external) email address that you used when you signed up with cutetravelmate.

Cutetravelmate uses this email address to notify you when you have new emails, travel matches or in case of important travel news. Make sure you used a valid email address, otherwise you will not know when you receive emails from other members!
Check your email address by clicking on the 'Account - SMS' link in 'My Home'.

 


Q: Will others see my real e-mail address?

Our e-mail service will hide your real e-mail address and the user's e-mail address that you are contacting.

- Cutetravelmate leaves it up to the discretion of its members whether they want to reveal their true email address or not.
- Cutetravelmate provides all members with a secure and safe environment and with all the tools to find a travel partner, friend or date online. Please be polite and adhere common etiquettes when contacting other members.
- Email content is not monitored and Cutetravelmate is not responsible for information exchange between members.
- Cutetravelmate does not restrict email or SMS usage, feel free to contact as many users as you like.


Q: Can I send attachments?

You cannot send attachments of any kind for security (virus) reasons.


 

Q: My travel purpose is business only, can I use this service?

Yes, Cutetravelmate is the perfect service for those who want to travel for business, pleasure or passion!


Q: I just want to find someone to do activities in my area, is this possible too?

Yes, there are no limitations as to how you use Cutetravelmate!

Q: What is SMS?

SMS: Short for 'Short Message Service' Similar to paging, SMS is a service for sending short text messages to mobile phones.
The number of mobile-phone users expects to reach 500 million worldwide by 2003, and with the help of SMS, 75 percent of all cellular phones will be Internet-enabled.

Cutetravelmate supports this convenient service, its usage is strictly limited to registered users only and the telephone number is not revealed to anyone else.

SMS messages at Cutetravelmate can only be send between users who signed up and activated this free service.


Q: Can I use SMS too?

If you have a cellphone (mobile phone) which supports SMS and when you use any of the providers in our list, you are able to receive SMS messages from other Cutetravelmate users.. Contact your cellular service if you are not sure if your mobile phone supports SMS messages.

Note: You do not need a cellphone in order to send SMS messages, Cutetravelmate allows you to send SMS messages through our site to other Cutetravelmate users who activated this service in "My Account Settings".


Q: How do I activate or de-activate my CuteSMS service?

Log on to Cutetravelmate and in 'My home' click on 'My Account Settings'. At the bottom you can type in your cellphone number without any spaces or dashes (1234567890..).
Select the service you have to activate your free service or select 'None' if you want to de-activate your SMS service at any time.

SMS per E-Mail
Sie können SMS auch von Ihrem persönlichen E-Mail Account an ein T-Mobile Handy verschicken. Tragen Sie in Ihrem E-Mail Programm als Empfängeradresse 43676, die 7-stellige T-Mobile Rufnummer des Empfängers und @sms.t-mobile.at ein (z.B. +436761234567@sms.t-mobile.at). Tragen Sie im Betreff ausschließlich Ihre SMS PIN** ein (z.B. 1234). Die PIN erhalten Sie, wenn Sie das erste Mal von Ihrem E-Mail Account eine SMS an ein T-Mobile Handy senden, mittels Retourmail zugestellt. Nach erfolgter SMS-Übertragung erhalten Sie eine Zustellungsbestätigung per E-Mail.

Du kan benytte SMS funktionen på Mail og kalender, hvis du tilmelder dig tjenesten. Der kan sendes op til 10 beskeder til enkeltpersoner og 3 beskeder til grupper.

Du kan også sende op til 5 SMS'er fra Dingelink.

Begrænsninger fra 1. maj 2002
Fra 1. maj 2002 har vi ændret mulighederne for at sende SMS'er via internettet og via e-mail.

Det betyder, at du ikke længere kan sende et ubegrænset antal SMS'er fra vores hjemmesider. Samtidig betyder det, at du ikke længere kan sende e-mails og få dem afleveret som SMS'er ved at skrive [mobilnummer]@sms.tdm.dk.

Du kan fortsat sende SMS'er til en e-mail adresse ved at sende SMS'en til nr. 200 - og du kan stadig modtage e-mails på mobiltelefonen som SMS'er.

What you'll be charged (By T-mobile UK, Cutetravelmate doesn't charge anything!):
You pay for each email text message sent from or received by your mobile phone at the standard rate for your price plan. For example if you receive an email over three text messages, you'll be charged for receiving each text message.

Je kunt e-mail ook via je mobiele telefoon ontvangen.
E-MAIL ONTVANGEN
Hoe vraag ik een mobiel e-mailadres aan?
Om een mobiel e-mailadres aan te vragen, verstuur je het sms-tekstbericht EMAIL ON naar 555. Vanaf dat moment is je e-mailadres actief. Zo’n mobiel e-mailadres bestaat uit je mobiele nummer plus @gin.nl. Als je mobiele nummer bijvoorbeeld 06 – 24 12 34 56 is, dan wordt je mobiele e-mailadres 0624123456@gin.nl.

Het is ook mogelijk een naam als afzender te gebruiken. Verstuur daarvoor het sms-tekstbericht EMAIL ALIAS T-MOBILE om van bijvoorbeeld 0624123456@gin.nl de afzender ’T-Mobile.gsm@gin.nl’ te maken. Je mobiele telefoon kan maximaal 160 tekens per bericht ontvangen. Daarom wordt alleen de onderwerpregel van de e-mail weergegeven.
Om de volledige tekst van een e-mail te kunnen ontvangen, verstuur je het sms-tekstbericht EMAIL BODY naar 555. De complete tekst van de e-mail ontvang je dan in verschillende sms-tekstberichten. Het is ook mogelijk een limiet te stellen aan het aantal e-mailberichten dat je wilt ontvangen. Verstuur daarvoor het sms-tekstbericht EMAIL BODY, gevolgd door het maximale aantal sms-tekstberichten per e-mail, naar 555. Je ontvangt nu niet meer dan het maximale aantal berichten dat je hebt opgegeven.

Je kunt ook de dagelijkse ontvangst van e-mailberichten op je telefoon beperken. Verstuur daarvoor het sms-tekstbericht: EMAIL MAX, gevolgd door het maximale aantal e-mails, naar 555. Voor het uitschakelen van een limiet verstuur je het sms-tekstbericht EMAIL MAX 0 naar 555.
Als je helemaal geen e-mail meer wilt ontvangen, verstuur je het sms-tekstbericht EMAIL OFF naar 555. E-MAIL VERZENDEN Hoe verzend ik een e-mail? Verstuur het sms-tekstbericht EMAIL, gevolgd door het e-mailadres en het bericht naar 555.

Voorbeeld: Je wilt een e-mail versturen met de inhoud ’Ik kom ongeveer een uurtje later. Groetjes Kees’ naar het e-mailadres t-mobile@t-mobile.nl. Verstuur dan het sms-tekstbericht EMAIL T-MOBILE@T-MOBILE.NL IK KOM ONGEVEER EEN UURTJE LATER. GROETJES KEES naar 555. Je bericht verschijnt in de onderwerpregel (subject) van het e-mailadres t-mobile@t-mobile.nl. Als afzender van de e-mail wordt je mobiele nummer vermeld.
Het is ook mogelijk een naam als afzender te gebruiken. Verstuur in dat geval het sms-tekstbericht EMAIL ALIAS T-MOBILE om van bijvoorbeeld 0624123456@gin.nl de afzender ’T-Mobile.gsm@gin.nl’ te maken.

Let op: Bij sommige GSM-telefoons is het niet mogelijk het ’apenstaartje’ (@) te gebruiken. In plaats van @ mag je in dat geval ook een uitroepteken (!) gebruiken. Het veel voorkomende ’underscore’-teken (_) kun je vervangen door het paragraafteken.

Q: How do I send/receive SMS messages?

When a user has this service activated, you will see this image in his/her profile:

For the sender: By clicking on this image, the CuteSMS window will pop-up. Enter a message of max 110 characters and press 'SEND' to send the message. You will see a confirmation screen that your message was sent. The subject line and the line that says 'To' are substracted from the maximum of 120 characters. If you send more than 120 characters, some cellular phones will not be able to display the text.

For the receiver: If you activated your SMS service in 'My Account Settings', you will be able to receive SMS messages from other Cutetravelmate users on your cellular phone. You cannot reply from your phone to the sender because this would reveal your true SMS address. If you would like to reply to the sender, log on to cutetravelmate, find the user with the 'Username Search' and send him/her a message. (Either by CuteMail or by CuteSMS (if this user has this service activated).

Your Cutetravelmate user-ID is automatically send together with your message.
Please keep your messages fun and appropriate.

Cutetravelmate does not guarantee that the SMS message will be successfully transmitted to the selected receiver. Please contact your cellular service provider for more details regarding your cellular service.
